What is Nutritional Therapy?

Clients seek Nutritional Therapy for a variety of reasons:

I identify possible nutritional imbalances which may contribute to a variety of symptoms and health issues. My aim is to address these imbalances by developing a personalised nutrition and possible supplement plan that fits into the clients lifestyle.

This is where my grounded approach really works as I will give help and advice that is achievable and don’t suddenly expect you to make dramatic changes to your diet.

The Consultation Process

Step 1

The client completes a detailed health questionnaire and food diary before the initial consultation. This allows the client to share relevant information regarding their goal and any health issues and symptoms.

Step 2

Prior to the initial consultation, I analyse the questionnaire looking for possible nutritional and biological imbalances, and carry out relevant research.

Step 3

During the initial 90 minute consultation, I really get to know your symptoms by discussing the questionnaire, I will explain what I think is happening and then together we devise a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan to help you achieve their goal. Relevant biochemical testing and supplements will be recommended if needed.

Step 4

Follow-up sessions are often recommended for some clients, usually on a monthly basis to review and adapt the nutrition and lifestyle plan as needed.

I want you to make the most out of your consultation, therefore I’ll ask for a range of information before the appointment. I will then spend some time before the consultation reading through your completed questionnaire and doing some research, to ensure you get the maximum benefit from your session with me.

After your appointment, you’ll receive a Health Optimisation Plan (HOP). This will be a protocol for you to follow that we would have discussed during your consultation. It will encompass nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise suggestions if appropriate. The plan will also recommend any clinical tests or supplements if appropriate.

This is a bespoke service and therefore every client is different. Some people will just have the initial consultation, whereas some may need several follow-ups. What is certain is that I will be honest with you and in the nicest possible way I shouldn’t need to see anyone continuously, although I’ll always be there for support if needed

The amount of protein you need depends on factors such as age, activity level, and overall health. The NHS recommends that adults consume around 0.75g of protein per kilogram of body weight daily.
