Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer & 6-Time Sutton Fun Run Winner Jonny Carter Explains 7 Benefits of Park-Based PT

Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer

In today’s fast-paced world, finding the time and motivation to exercise can be challenging. A park based Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer can certainly help.

The monotony of gym workouts and the hustle and bustle of a busy life often deter people from pursuing their fitness goals.

However, Personal Training in a beautiful park such as Sutton Park, in Sutton Coldfield, offers a refreshing and invigorating alternative that can significantly enhance your fitness journey.

Here are some of the key benefits of opting for personal training in the great outdoors.

1. Fresh Air and Natural Surroundings With a Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer

Exercising in a park means you are surrounded by nature, which can positively impact your mental and physical well-being.

The fresh air, green spaces, and birds chirping can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Studies have shown that being in nature can improve mood, boost mental clarity, and increase overall happiness. This can be beneficial for people who are severely stressed.

Please read my blog on How 2 Types of Stress Damage the body.

One of the main benefits of training outdoors is that it allows you to break free from the confines of a gym and enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of natural surroundings.

In Sutton Coldfield, we are lucky to have one of the biggest urban parks on our doorstep. This beautiful park is a great place to train with a Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer.

2. Vitamin D Boost

One of the significant advantages of outdoor training is exposure to sunlight, which helps your body produce vitamin D.

Vitamin D is essential for maintaining healthy bones and muscles, supporting the immune system, and regulating mood.

As a Nutritional Therapist and Personal Trainer, I have a very holistic approach, and this is a great way of getting the ‘best of both worlds’ by exercising and improving your nutritional status at the same time.

Please read my blog on Vitamin D Deficiency.

Just 15-30 minutes of sun exposure during your workout can help you meet your daily vitamin D requirements, which are often challenging to achieve indoors.

3. Improved Workout Variety With a Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer

Personal Training in a park offers a diverse range of exercise options that are not typically available in a gym.

Being a Sutton Coldfield Personal Trainer as already mentioned I use Sutton Park regularly.

Using Sutton Park means we can take advantage of the natural terrains, such as the trails and hills (there are certainly plenty of hills in Sutton Park!) to incorporate different types of cardio such as ‘hill efforts’ where we run up a short hill then walk back down.

The trails also offer a more ‘forgiving surface’ for running on rather than the running on concrete leading to less impact-type injuries.

Certainly, if you want to improve your running fitness look no further, as the 6-time Royal Sutton Fun Run winner you’ll certainly be in good hands if you train with me.

Please read my blog on the amazing 2024 Sutton Fun Run.

I also trained ITV’s Central’s Hannah Betchelet in Sutton Park as she prepared for the London Marathon, along with giving her some Nutrition advice for the event.

The above video was shown as a feature on ITV Central.

The park is also fantastic for resistance training by utilising park benches for tricep dips and press-ups and open spaces for bodyweight exercises like lunges and squats can make your workout more dynamic and engaging.

This variety can prevent workout boredom and keep you motivated. It’s a great way to mix a bit of jogging with resistance work in a beautiful park rather than stuck on a treadmill in a sweaty gym followed by trying to find a floor space for some walking lunges!

4. Social Interaction and Community Feel

Training in a park often means you are surrounded by other people who are also enjoying the outdoors.

In places like Sutton Park, you’ll often pass other joggers or walkers who’ll usually say a friendly ‘good morning’!

This social aspect can create a sense of community and camaraderie, which can be motivating and inspiring.

As a Personal trainer in Sutton Coldfield, I  can also organise group sessions, meaning you can train with a friend/friends making it a fun and social way to achieve your fitness goals.

6. Cost Effective and Accessible

Parks are free and accessible to everyone, making outdoor personal training a cost-effective option compared to gym memberships or boutique fitness classes

There is no need for expensive equipment or facility fees. All you need is a good pair of trainers and comfortable workout clothes to get started.

This accessibility means that apart from the Personal Training fees you have no extra costs allowing more people to benefit from Personal Training.

7. Customisable and Personalised Workouts

As a Personal Trainer in Sutton Coldfield, I can tailor outdoor workouts to suit your specific needs and fitness levels in a friendly and relaxed approach.

Whether you are a beginner looking to improve your overall fitness or an athlete aiming to enhance performance, I can design sessions that are both challenging and enjoyable.

The flexibility of training in a park allows for creative and personalised approaches that can be adjusted as you progress.

Personal training in a park offers a multitude of benefits that extend beyond physical fitness.

The combination of fresh air, natural surroundings, and varied workout options can significantly enhance your overall well-being.

The mental and emotional benefits of being outdoors, coupled with the social aspect and cost-effectiveness, make park-based personal training an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve their health and fitness.
